RFD868ux
The RFDesign 868uX is a long range telemetry radio modem, covering the 865-870 MHz frequency band.
Designed for long range serial communications applications with stringent requirements on size and weight.
Designed, tested and inspected in Australia; the EU variant is compliant with EU regulations.

Please note: The EU certified version of the 868 modems have limited operation modes, a low power (5mW) full duty cycle mode, and a high power (500mW) low duty cycle mode. The high power mode will significantly reduce data throughput due to the duty cycle restrictions. These conditions are a requirement of compliance with EU regulations and CANNOT be altered.
Key Features:
- A digital modem for long-range data transmission in applications with strict weight and size limitations.
- Compatible with the MAVLink message protocol.
- Maximum Air data rate: 224kbit/s.
- AES Hardware accelerated encryption.
- Optional RC PPM or SBUS Passthrough.
- GPIO Pin Mirroring capability.
- ESD-protected and filtered IO pins
- Firmware options available to achieve several network topologies including point-to-point SiK and Asynchronous mesh.
- User updateable firmware and parameters
- Smallest, lightest radio modem in class.
- License-free use in India and EU (IND and EU variant).
- Compatible with x series modems.
Note:
- The ux and x series modems are not compatible with older "a" or “+” series modems .
Interfaces:
- RF : 2x u.FL RF connectors
- Serial: Logic level TTL (+3.3V)
- Power: +5v, ~1A max peak (at maximum transmit power)
- GPIO: General purpose IO.
Compliance:
- Regional version modems are compliant with regional regulation
- NDAA compliant
The RFD868ux-EU is compliant with the following standards:
- EN300 220 V3.1.1
- EN301 489-3 V2.1.1
- IEC 62368-1:2014
Note:
- Regionally locked version of the modems may restrict or limit the performance and available parameter settings compared to the unlocked modems.
- Ultimately it is up to the user to identify the radio frequency regulation applicable to their areas of operation and ensure their modems parameters are set correctly.
